Mighty Films has been shooting time-lapse since 2004. Back then we shot on film, processing the neg at the lab once the job was done. Nail-biting stuff!
Thankfully, times have changed, and with the advent of digital SLRs and mobile broadband, the time-lapse industry has exploded.
Over time, our philosophy with regard to time-lapse has evolved to reflect our philosophy on shooting anything else: you have to be responsive to change, provide flexibility for clients and keep story in mind in order to get the best results.
Mighty FIlms offers long-term and short-term time-lapse solutions. Our long-term time-lapse units are remotely monitored, all-weather, and include web galleries so clients can log in at any time to see the latest images available from their work-site in high resolution. We deliver time-lapse footage in HD or 4K UHD, the latest generation video format that offers four times the resolution of HD content.
As an alternative to long-term time-lapse acquisition, we are often commissioned to shoot short-term 'motion time-lapse' from ground-based, motion-controlled cameras to capture key project milestones in detail. We find the resulting footage has that 'wow' factor that is hard to beat.
Mighty Films has developed a reputation within the industry as a leader in providing high-quality, high-impact content for distribution via TV news, social media channels and other project communication streams.
Recent time-lapse projects.
BAE Systems Australia hired Mighty Films to shoot this time-lapse of their commercial aircraft maintenance team working at Tullamarine Airport in Melbourne, Australia. The footage captures some of the work done every night to ensure commercial aircraft get us where we're going safely.
The shoot used one static camera installed for five days, combined with a one-night attended shoot to capture close-ups and alternate angles with two mobile cameras – one on a motion control system. This combination of long-term and attended time-lapse capture makes for dynamic footage that is more detailed, more flexible and more engaging than a simple unattended long-term installation, for only a small increase in budget.
Check out the clip. We think it speaks for itself.
BAE Australia hired Mighty FIlms to shoot time-lapse of some big new toys they were building for the ADF. Shot over several months using multiple cameras both fixed and mobile, we captured footage of bits of aircraft carrier in some very tight spots.
This job saw Mighty Films shooting dynamic time lapse footage of construction works on the $350 million Springvale Road Level Crossing Removal project. Shooting over three nights in some of the worst conditions we've ever encountered, Mighty Films captured some brilliant shots with our multi-camera, motion controlled setup, and got very wet in the process! A challenging shoot that resulted in some great-looking footage. Check out that rain!
Time-lapse footage shot using a motion control rig to add interest and lift the footage to a new level.

Mighty Films shot this sweet little time-lapse film for the nice guys at TCK Solar. Thanks to some good weather and a couple of very accommodating home-owners (thanks guys), they ended up with a great promo piece that gets a good run on the TCK website and whenever they go on the road to hit the trade shows.
